NATIVE PLANTS NATIVE PLANTS - Upstate Forever

This is a link to Upstate Forever Low-Impact Development fact sheet. It includes information for native plants that can be used in bioretention and as a lake buffer.

For bioretention and lake buffer they suggest plants that can withstand times of drought and times of partial-full submersion. Plants that can trap sediment and increase pollutant removal. Upstate Forever suggests using:
Trees- Red maple, Black gum, pond Cypress, ironwood, willow oak
Shrubs- Beautyberry, spicebush
Grasses- Switchgrass, Baker's cordgrass, Indiangrass, riveroats
